What does Abide and Obey Mean?
To Abide in Christ means to maintain an active relationship with Jesus throughout your day. As Christians, we must recognize our need for absolute dependence on Jesus to shape our thoughts and actions in order to produce good fruit for His glory.
To Obey Christ as Jesus stated in John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments means to actively align our personal desires with what God wants. It is a daily sacrifice that requires us as Christians to surrender our actions and strive to imitate how Jesus lived. Obedience is trusting that God knows best even when we don’t understand. It is a continual challenge to turn to God and rely on Him time and time again.
